Once upon a time there was this little girl named Andrea.  She lived in Illinois on a large farm where her duties were to take care of the animals.  She had to milk ten to twelve cows twice a day, gather eggs from 1,500 hens, feed an average of 40 each of pigs and sheep.  But her greatest love was her five American Saddlebred horses.

As she grew, her ability with a horse was spread around the area until people were bringing unmanageable horses to break and train.  She continued to train horses after she got married and started a family.  She even showed a stallion two weeks before her son was born.  The owner became afraid of him and insisted she show him.

After having her three children she looked for a job where she could be at home with them and yet earn an income.  She found that perfect job as a Greyhound racing dog farm manager.  For about 20 years, she raised and trained the dogs with the help of her husband and children.

After the children had grown and her marriage fell apart, she moved to Washington state where she used her talent for drawing to support herself.  While attending a Christmas show, she fell down steps and injured her back enough to put her on disability.

For over a year she felt sorry for herself and did nothing.  Then one day she had a long talk with herself and decided that she needed to be busy especially with animals.

She found a small piece of land that she started homesteading.  She then got her first goats, a Saanen doe named GCH Jerliska Acres Kissie's Kismet *M.  That started the long love affair with goats that is still going on after 30 years.

That little girl is me, Andrea Green, horse trainer, dog trainer and now goat keeper.  Now after all this, it's almost time for this great-grandmother to give up the "hard" life and move into town.  But after 8 months the call of a farm was too much for me.  I moved back on my 4.5 acres farm.  Once again to raise and keep my beloved goats.

In 2008, I was given the opportunity to take over the Miniature Dairy Goat Association.  It's been so rewarding to be able to help people with their registrations and other duties with the registry.  You can learn about MDGA from their webpage.  Use the link above.

This website is made up of stories and information of interest to probably nobody but me, but you might get something out of it.  To look at my life and my animals, just follow the links.  Hope you enjoy the story of my life in pieces.
